毎年4月26日は、「世界知的所有権機関（WIPO ※国連の専門機関）設立条約」が発効した日にちなみ、「World IP Day」とされ、2001年以降、イノベーションを促進する上での知的財産権の役割について、各国の人々の理解を深めるために様々な関連行事が行われています。

20年目にあたる2020年4月26日は、“Innovate for a Green Future”（環境に優しい未来のための革新）のコンセプトの下、世界各地で本テーマに関する普及啓発活動が行われる予定でした。新型コロナウイルス（COVID-19）感染拡大予防のため、全てのライブイベントは中止されました。しかし、数多くのバーチャルイベントが開催され、それらのいくつかはWorld IP Dayのウェブサイトで公表されています。

さらに、World IP Day誓約マップ（https://worldipday.wipo.int/map）に環境に優しい未来のための500を超える誓約が世界中から提出されました。

April 26 of every year is named “World IP Day” after the date when the ” the Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO * a specialized organization of the United Nations (UN))” came into effect. Ever since 2001, various related events have been held to deepen the understanding of the people of each country about the role of intellectual property rights around the World.

On April 26, 2020, which marked the 20th anniversary year of the World IP Day, the promotion and public awareness activities were planned to be held around the world under the concept of “Innovate for a Green Future”. All live events have been canceled to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, but a number of virtual events has been held, some of them announced on the World IP Day website: https://www.wipo.int/export/sites/www/ip-outreach/en/ipday/2020/ipday2020_webinars.pdf.

Furthermore, over 500 pledges for a green future were submitted from all over the world on the World IP Day Pledges Map: https://worldipday.wipo.int/map.
